“Do you have a life verse?” Meaning, is there a scripture that has been guiding you throughout your life?
Some people are so bold in asking that question that you could just imagine them going straight up to the apostle Paul and asking, “So Paul, do you have a life verse?”
Perhaps the verse that comes nearest to Paul’s ” life verse” is Philippians 3:8 “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,” The “excellency”… the very best.
I count EVERYTHING as loss ( nothing else means as much OR compares) because of the great and surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus as my Lord. In simple terms, he says, “I want to know Christ more than ANYTHING.”
And this is not just Paul’s personal testimony, he assure’s us that this should be the “life verse” and testimony of every Christian. This is the conviction that drives Paul, and should drive each and every one of us in our daily life’s.
So, find your “life verse” and be passionate in it. Because everything compared to knowing Christ Jesus, in short amounts to “dung”
