Is suffering to be a part of the christian life? When Christ first called us,we were to deny our self – take up our cross. When Saul of tarsus was converted on the road to Damascus, he was blinded for some time. Then as the Apostle Paul, he was beaten repeatedly, shipwrecked, hungry, cold, and naked. And on top of all of that, God did not answer his prayer for healing from what ever it was he was praying for. Paul was to be content with the grace that had been given him. 2 Corinthians 11:1

When we live in the knowledge of some day seeing Christ, being with Him and hearing Him say “well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter into the joy of your Lord” Then we can fully realize the truth of 2 Corinthians 2:17. That “our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”

So yes, suffering is to be expected in a Christian’s life. “which is but for a moment”
